BT Ennis Cup final : Ballyholland 12pm Monday :
St Joseph’s Crossmaglen v. Colaiste Feirste
There is a novel pairing for Monday afternoon’s BT Ennis Cup final in Ballyholland.
St Joseph’s Crossmaglen and Colaiste Feirste are both relatively new to Colleges’ football, although both have already collected silverware and are keen to add to their collection in Ballyholland today.
St Joseph’s on paper looked to have the easier of the two semi-finals, but they struggled to a 1-14 to 3-5 victory over Cross & Passion Ballycastle.
Meanwhile Colaiste Feirste upset the odds against Lumen Christi with an impressive 5-10 to 3-5 win.
Strong in a defence led by Deaglán Mac Thom and Feirste Mac Ciarráin and backed by a solid midfeld pair of Conor Ó Deoráin and Piaras Mac Amhalaí, they have managed to get good supply of ball to their forward line throughout the competition.
Pádraig Mag Riabhaigh is the target man up front and he has been delivering in the same manner as the impressive Shane Carragher for Cross.
Shane scored 1-6 against Ballycastle with good support from PJ McCann and Peter og McDonnell, son of the ex-Armagh boss.
Cross captain Conor Connolly missed the semi-final through injury and this should toughen up their challenge.
Cross slight favourites despite their brinkmanship in recent games
